Styling the New Balance 452

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I have never considered myself a 'trainers' person. I've always been the clunky Dr Marten sort. Yet here I am purchasing another pair of ye ol' sneakers after wearing my Reebok classics into the ground (yes, they got a little smelly okay). So maybe I am the type to live in a pair of trainers after all!

But where to turn next? This whole grandad trainer trend still hums in the air gently like a luxury leather store, and I have been tempted to sniff on a few occasions. I didn't want to plunge headfirst as I do with a lot of trends. Instead, I thought it best to just dip a toe or two in and go for something a bit more wearable for every day rather than something that wouldn't look out of place at Haute Couture Fashion Week!

I thought I'd keep the outfit fairly understated in neutral tones with a trusty pair of Mango wide-leg trousers (similar here) and a Weekday turtleneck, which has trustily built the foundation to many an outfit over the Winter months. I layered this up with an oversized fleeced shirt which I have found to be such a great styling piece this time of year. Finally topped with yet another vintage leather number for a bit of interest and texture. It took me a long time to find the ultimate black leather jacket of my dreams, but, here it is. I revisited the same charity and vintage stores endlessly for about a year until this finally glistened upon a rail one day, so keep on searching!

Stay tuned to see how else I'm styling up these awkward dad shoes, I can't wait for the warmer months with these babies, I'm thinking floral dresses and little white socks?
