Ah, the wonder that is 'workwear'! The image that comes to mind isn't a particularly colourful one. I think a lot of us immediately lean towards Next or M&S shop-fronts in the hope of finding the perfect suit. It seems, unfortunately so, it has always been hard to find a good women's suit within a small budget. But, more importantly, a STYLISH good women's suit within a small budget!
Ladies, there is good news! Workwear doesn't have to mean wearing a suit! The strict workwear rules have been lifted slightly in the average office, and the chic/smart/casual rein has been in full force on the high street for a good number of years now. Mango has always been a store name that comes to mind for great smart-but-stylish pieces; wide leg trousers, statement shirts, printed skirts etc. Playing with colour has never been more on trend!
This outfit is one I wore to a lunch meeting this week, and if I'm honest, I felt fabulous. If leaving an impression is the aim of the game, whether it be for an interview or a meeting, adding that pop of colour will make you stand out of a black/blue/grey crowd of suits and pastel shirts! This beauty caught my eye in Topshop after an endless hunt for the perfect plaid blazer, I stumbled across this in the 'last chance to buy section'. If your local Topshop is lacking in anything other than joni jeans and basics (like mine), this is the best section to go to find some one-off, unexpected pieces. With a blazer that says it all, I kept the top and skirt simple in colour but added a little more interest with the texture of this satin fabric. The thing I'm most excited about is these epic shoes! The orange pony hair fabric against the greens in the blazer is a clashing combination I was desperate to try! I've certainly got my wear outa these babies, they make any dull outfit feel chic and on-trend with this totally wearable kitten heel. There are loads of colourful kitten heels on the high street at the moment, I seriously recommend picking up a pair to make your workwear outfits scream sass!
